I’m a transgender man/non-binary person but due to some breathing trouble, I can’t wear a chest binder often. Not that I could wear it all day at work anyway; you’re only supposed to wear them for eight hours at the very most. The best I can do is wear sports bras, so I feel more comfortable but don’t “pass” at all.

I just started a new job, and I’m not out yet.

Coworker 1: (to Coworker 2) Ask [my name] she has it.

Me: I’m not a she.

Coworker 1: Sorry.

Me: I’m a they.

Coworker 1: *nods*

He’s been using masculine words for me ever since. It’s so affirming to be correctly gendered, and it’s so reassuring that there are good allies out there still!
