Unfiltered Story #18589

Unfiltered | January 17, 2017

I’m a coder from a country which bloomed a little late about IT projects. About 8 years ago, I got an incentive from the government to make a software about the mentally handicapped children and their integration to general education systems.

There was one call from a small city one day, an institution for educating mentally-handicapped children requesting to pay for the software later. I didn’t think a lot about it and simply waived the whole fee for the software and sent them the download link and the license code.

Shortly after I lost my company with a huge amount of debt due to my partner swindling me and the company and running away. I cut my losses and sold the company and the software, started working as a programmer in another company, trying hard to pay my remaining debt.

Then one day I got a phone call from an unknown number. The woman on the other side told me it was incredibly hard to find me, laughing about it. Then she asked for my IBAN to send me the price of the software they had gotten for free six months ago also thanked me for the software, telling me they could accommodate several more children with my software doing most of the paperwork for them.

Because of the money they’ve sent, I was able to pay my bills and take a breath out of the depression all the debt was causing.

Some people are like Lannisters I guess, they always pay their debts.
