Unfiltered Story #185614

I get this pretty much every night, just ’cause no one thinks I need to ask:

Guest: “My ID? Why do you need to see my ID? It’s up in the room anyhow….”

Me: “I don’t want to send someone else to your room or vice versa. It’s a security issue.” *sighs* “Your ID is in your room, you say? OK, let’s see if I can find a way to be able to give you key. Let’s start with your address, please…”

Guest: “Why do you need my address? I just want a room key! You’re being rude!”

Me: “I’m sorry you feel that way, but I’m just trying to verify your ID w/o your physical ID, or I’m going to have send someone up w/ you to actually check your ID…..”

Then the conversation usually goes one of two ways: I get the address, and guest gets key, or guest gets more pissed, and starts screaming about me being a useless b**** ’cause I just won’t give out a key. If I’m blessed, there’s a witness who actually sides w/ me, says something about me being good about being security aware and tells the screaming guest to grow up and be thankful I didn’t send a cop to their room!
