(I overheard this exchange on the bus between two senior citizens)

Senior 1: so I said thank you, although she said I shouldn’t. (Very indignant and in a I-can-make-my-own-mind-up tone) After all, it isn’t written on their face if they are good or bad

Senior 2: you are right

Senior 1: and we have some bad people as well. So I’ll be polite to them and expect from them the same, no matter what she says.

Senior 2: hear hear.

(I’m not sure who the “she” was but the senior citizen got my vote)
