Unfiltered Story #18491

When I was around 7 years old my mom took me to the store with her to buy groceries (this was one of those large stores that also sold toys, clothes, and other items in addition to food). The store happened to be celebrating their 10th anniversary, and when we finished paying the cashier told us we were the 100th customer of the day and that we had won a large prize in the form of store credit. Right away my mom went back into the store and used the entire credit to buy a huge amount of toys that we then gifted to children at a homeless shelter. I’ve never forgotten that day because I realized my mom could very well had spent that money on her or on our family, yet she made a different choice. I was the day I learned the importance of sharing and generosity.
