*Customer comes up to me after completing her transaction at a self service checkout, the customer appears angry*
Customer: WHY DID YOU CHARGE ME FOR USING MY OWN BAG?!
Me: I’m sorry to hear that, did the machine ask you if you had used a carrier bag?
Customer: YES, AND I SAID I’D USED ONE!
Me: Ah, it asks that because we now charge 5p per bag used. It is meant for when you use a Tesco carrier bag. When using your own you are supposed to simply say you haven’t used one, it does also notify you that a charge will be added after saying how many bags you used in which you have to agree to those terms or go back and not use a bag.
Customer: WELL I HAVEN’T USED ONE SO WHY HAVE I BEEN CHARGED. GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK NOW!
Me: I’m sorry, I am unable to do that at a self serve checkout, if you want to be refunded for your 5p you may go to customer services, they can help you further.
*Customer starts to storm out, clearly very angry*
Me: So do you want a bag or nah? You did pay for one afterall…
