(I worked at a well-known retail store as a service desk associate. This couple had come in a few other times before and weren’t particularly friendly and very touchy with each other. It’s fairly early in the morning and my coworker comes in to run the desk with me.
At this store we do vouchers normally for people who are associated with rehabs to get free interview clothes and other essentials.)
Lady: “Hi, I have a voucher for this.” *sets down card for cellphone minutes along with voucher document*
Coworker: “Alright, if I could get you to sign these receipts for me you’ll be all set.”
(It’s a process with vouchers, lots of receipt signing for store policy)
Lady: *glaring at coworker and looking at her boyfriend for help* We are in a huge hurry, I don’t have time for this.”
Coworker: ” I understand, but it’s store policy to do it this way.”
Lady: ” I don’t understand why I have to do it.” *proceeds to sign the receipts with attitude.”
Boyfriend: “[Coworker’s name] I’m going to be filling out a survey on you for this.”
Coworker: *clearly irritated with the both of them* “You go ahead and do that.”
