Unfiltered Story #143651

(We sell things that people can buy from a catalog. The catalogs are ridiculously complicated, so one day this pregnant lady buys some baby things. Problem was, she had to buy something else to get the things that she wanted. I had the ‘pleasure’ of calling her to inform her of it, since I had taken her order.)

Me: “I’m sorry, ma’am, but you have to buy another item to get this price…”

Customer: “WHAT! You didn’t tell me this! You should’ve! Now I have to go all the way back?! You’re an idiot!”

(She rants and raves and I hang up, since I can’t get in a single word. I tell my coworker what’s happening and go on break. A few minutes later, the customer comes in, cuts the line, and slams her purse on the counter.)

Customer: “I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT I HAVE TO COME BACK HERE! I EXPECTED MORE FROM THIS!”

Coworker: “Ma’am, I’ll be with you in a sec, as I’m busy with another customer.”

Other Customer: “…” *shocked at the way this lady’s behaving*

Customer: “I DON’T CARE, I’M PREGNANT AND YOU EXPECT ME TO DRIVE ALL THE WAY BACK HERE FOR THE MISTAKE YOU MADE!”

(The manager pops her head around the corner to see what all the noise is about. Finally the irate customer calms down and is made to leave. Sheepishly, I leave the break room and approach my coworker.)

Me: “Sorry about that. I told you that she was unreasonable on the phone.”

Coworker: *still hopping mad* “I wish I could’ve told her to meet me outside! I would’ve–” *shakes fist* “You owe me one.”

(The pregnant customer came back several times after giving birth, and was sweet as pie. You would think she never hollered at my coworker before! Sorry, coworker! The only thing is, she always asks for someone else to take her order. No objection from me about that at all!)
