Library patron (sounding frantic): Excuse me, can somebody help me? You, back there, can you help me?
Co-worker (rushing out from the back): Yes ma’am, what’s the matter?
Library patron (suddenly calm): I want to take these books out.
(There was a clerk out front to serve her, just finishing up with another patron, with no line. She would have had to wait all of ten seconds.)
