Unfiltered Story #104380

| Unfiltered | January 28, 2018

A customer brings up a book to return. I flip through the book to make sure it’s not damaged and see that she’s inscribed the cover page.
Me: I’m so sorry, we can’t take this back because you’ve written in it.
Customer: yes, it was a gift for my son and he didn’t want it.
Me: I understand, but now no one else will want it either.
I hand the book back to her. She goes off and comes back a few minutes later, handing me the book again.
Me: Ma’am, I’m sorry, but I already explained that I can’t take this back because you wrote in it.
Customer: but I fixed it! Look!
I look. She has *torn* the page out, leaving a ragged strip along the spine.
Customer: there! Now you can take it back!
