I was at a small clothes store. A black guy is sitting behind the counter right next to the register where a local is checking someone else out. I only have a question. There are no uniforms nor employee tags here.
Me: (in English) Do you work here?
Guy: No, I’m just a tourist waiting for my friend. *Nods to the local cashier.*
Me: Oh, okay.
Guy: Why would you even think I work here? *odd stare*
He was still sitting in the employee area and I actually do know several places with some foreign staff.
