(I’m in my linguistics class. We’re talking about the root “vise,” which means “to see.”)
Teacher: (to another student) You’re right… “visit” is just “vise” with the suffix “-it.” I didn’t SEE that before.
(That probably wasn’t intended, but the class laughs anyway.)
Me: I SEE what you did there!
(Cue laughing and groaning from everyone, including me.)
