Racism Isn’t Smart

Classmate #1: “Hey, [Classmate #2], can I have a minute of your time?”

Classmate #2: “Sure, what’s up?”

Classmate #1: “I just want to apologize for the things I’ve said to you.”

Classmate #2: “Apologize? What for?”

Classmate #1: “I’m sorry for being a racist to you. I truly am.”

(This easily grabs Classmate #2’s attention, as he is from India.)

Classmate #2: “I don’t remember you ever being racist to me. When did that happen?”

Classmate #1: “Well, remember when I kept making remarks about how Indians are so smart? I realized that I was stereotyping against your people. I’m very sorry for saying such mean things to you, and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. It was wrong of me to think that, and I regret it.”

Classmate #2: “That’s okay [Classmate #1]; I forgive you. Thank you for coming clean with that.” *realizes what he implied* “Hey! You take that back!”
