Hasn’t Quite Got That Killer Instinct

(I am riding in the car with my husband when this conversation happens:)

Husband: “I love you.”

Me: “I love you, too.”

Husband: “You better.”

(He’s silent for a minute.)

Husband: “Or else I’d have to kill somebody.”

Me: “You’d kill somebody? Who? How would that make me love you?”

Husband: “Getting rid of whoever else you loved.”

Me: “You would kill the person that I loved. And that would make me love you instead?”

Husband: “Well… no…”

(I’m not sure where he thought that would go!)
