(My sister’s friends have come from South America to visit for the holidays. They are in the middle seats of my sister’s van and I am next to my five year old niece in the far back. At one point, they lean over to one another and kiss.)
Niece: [whispering in complete disbelief] Auntie, did you just see that?
Me: [not understanding her shock] Yes… It’s like they love each other or something!
Later I tell my sister what her daughter said and she turns to her.
Sister: You know they are married, right? Like your dad and I are?
Kallie: Oh. I thought they were brother and sister!
