(We are sharing about our favorite video games in preparation for the day’s German lesson.)
Classmate #1: I like to play [Game] because you get to run a criminal empire.
Teacher: Why would you want to do that?
Classmate #1: *now sounding like a salesperson* It’s all about the demand, [Teacher]. Do you know what’s in demand? Do you?
Teacher: *without missing a beat, completely seriously* Yes. Heroin.
(Just for the record, her neighborhood is in a very bad part of town. She’s been pretty integral in stopping some of the crime there, so it figures she’d know. She would never actually use drugs)
