Some Are More Easily Spun Than Others

(My friend and I are sitting in front of two girls in fifth grade. Suddenly the teacher picks up a globe and starts spinning it.)

Teacher: “As you all know the earth spins around.”

Girl #1: “Does the earth spin? I didn’t know that. Why don’t we get motion-sick then? And fly off the earth?”

(At this point my friend and I are shocked by this and turn around to try and explain it to her.)

Me: “The earth spins so slow for us that we don’t notice it.”

Friend: “And we don’t fly off the earth because of gravity.”

(We start explaining this to them.)

Girl #2: “Oh, yeah, I know what gravity is. It’s when you’re pregnant!”
