You’re Going The Wrong (Sub)Way

(My drama teacher has a storage facility for props and costumes that is a short walk from campus, and she announces one day that the drama students will have to stay late to get some stuff there. Friend #1, who takes public transport to and from school, raises her hand.)

Friend #1: “Excuse me; is there a subway near the storage unit?”

Teacher: “Oh, yes, I believe there is one right in between [Restaurant #1] and [Restaurant #2].”

Friend #2: “No, I think she’s asking how to get home afterwards.”

Teacher: *finally realizing her misunderstanding* “Oh, SUBWAY!”

(She screamed that so loud that Friend #3 jumped and knocked over a couple books that were on the shelf next to him. But yes, Friend #1 was able to get back home.)
