This Act Speaks Volumes
(I often read the Not Always stories to my husband so that we can enjoy them together. On a road trip, the texture of the road changes gets very loud. I am in the middle of reading a story when he reaches for the volume button and turns it to the right, which would normally turn the volume up.)
Me: “What are you doing? I thought you wanted me to read you the stories?”
(My husband gets a look on his face like I have caught his hand in the cookie jar.)
Husband: “…I do.”
Me: “Were you trying to turn my volume up?”
Husband: “Yes… This is going on Not Always, isn’t it?”
Me: “Yep!”
