(I am sitting in my Prose in Romantic Literature class while a classmate is trying to answer a rather controversial question, and choose his words carefully.)
Student: “I don’t want to say anything to end up, like, crucifying myself…”
Professor: “Well, you can’t crucify yourself. You typically need other people to do that. We can crucify you, if you’d like.”
