Different Islands Of Thought

(My linguistics professor has a tendency to wander from topic to topic in a conversation. Today we ended up on the topic of Staten Island once attempting to secede from New York City, and several students who are from NYC are vocally expressing that this would not be considered an especially bad thing.)

Professor: “No, no, there’s a very nice ferry that takes you right to Staten Island.”

Student: “And then it’ll take you right back to New York!”
