(While taking a youth community survey in one of my junior high English classes.)
Student #1: *who is African-American* “This thing is asking me if I was in a gang.”
Me: *nodding* “Yep. Just be honest. Remember this is an anonymous survey.”
Student #2: *who is white* “I was in a gang when I was younger.”
Student #1: “No, you weren’t. You white.”
Student #2: *with a straight face* “No, man, I was in a white-people gang. It was called daycare. We drank juice like nobody’s BUSINESS, son.”
