Unfiltered Story #32653

Unfiltered | March 14, 2017

It’s the 1980s, a time when schools are less risk-averse. For our gym lesson, we’re riding bikes in the field behind the school. I’m 7 years old and have never successfully ridden a bike without training wheels before. The gym teacher is very helpful in teaching me how to balance, and I finally get the hang of it. I am so excited that I’m really riding a bike that I forget to look where I’m going or steer, and I crash straight into the nearest tree. The handlebar hits me in the chest and I end up with a huge bruise, but what’s the first thing that I want to do after the teachers make sure I’m OK? Get straight back on the bike and ride some more!
