Politically Out Of Touch And Out Of Time

(I am giving my coworker a ride home and we are discussing other countries since I just got back from a study abroad trip to the UK.)

Me: “I think I’m going to start looking for other trips for next summer. I’m ready to do more exploring.”

Coworker: “I’d love to do that. I really want to go to Russia, actually. I like those dome buildings they have.”

Me: “I’m thinking of looking into a trip to Germany. I’ve always wanted to go.”

Coworker: “I don’t know about Germany. It kind of scares me, with their politics and Nazis and whatnot.”

Me: “… and you think present day Russia is better than Germany over 50 years ago…?”
